Come visit our gallery to see this masterpiece.

This majestic rendition of the United States seal is sixty nine inches in diameter and weighs three hundred and fifty pounds.
Made exclusively of hand cut and sculpted glass, "The Great Seal of the United States" is the greatest endeavor of Cary Ferguson's career.
After much time spent in planning and designing, the actual labor has taken three and one half years. Locating the original colors of the seal in glass, such as the red and green, proved to be quite difficult and required a considerable amount of time.
In addition to the various colored glasses, fine quality lead crystal is used throughout the seal. Combined with the element of light, the crystals come to life as they create a dazzling array of vibrant colors.

For this undertaking, Ferguson invented his own method of hand sculpted beveling, which requires up to ten times the amount of time and work as traditional beveling. Each piece of glass was ground, shaped and polished to a high luster, much the same as the sculptor would do in stone.
Upon completing the sculpting process, the pieces were individually hand cut and hand silvered, thus achieving the artist’s goal of creating pieces which are true to life. Our nation’s great symbol is comprised of two hundred and forty two pieces of glistening glass.
The finished components are mounted on a base of ½” thick clear glass. A striking contrast is obtained as the pleated red velvet, positioned behind the glass as the background, brings out the vividness of richly colored glass.
The completed glass seal is housed in a hand carved, black walnut frame which bears the inscriptions “In God We Trust” and “The Great Seal of the United States”. The hand carved letters shine forth as they are gold leafed in 22K gold.

Ferguson hopes that as visitors to the gallery take in the patriotic beauty of his glass masterpiece, they will feel a sense of the pride which he has for his country.
